Born in Paris in 1956, Chittrovanu Mazumdar grew up in Calcutta. In 1981, he graduated from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Calcutta. The list of solo exhibitions include Apparao Galleries in association with 1x1 Art Gallery, Chennai (2010), Solo project at India Art Summit, New Delhi, 1x1 Art Gallery (2009), Various at Royal Academy of Arts, Gallery 88, London (2008), Gallery 88, Bombay (2004), New Work, Seagull Foundation for the Arts, Calcutta (2004) besides many others. Selected Group Shows include Continuum - Encapsulating the best of Contemporary Indian Art, by Latitude 28 and Art Cinnamon in Singapore (2011), Size Matters...or Does it? at Latitude 28 (2010), Re-claim / Re-cite / Re-cycle curated by Bhavna Kakar, at Bose Pacia, Kolkata (2009), 1x1 Art Gallery and Hause Chelsea, Isle of Sylt, Germany (2009), Ancient Earth, Video Wednesdays curated by Bose Krishnamachari / Johny ML, Gallery Espace, New Delhi (2009), Altered Realities, Arts India, New York (2006). Selected Workshops include Khoj, New Delhi (2000), Frac Payes de la Loire, France (1996). He has also been active beyond the studio, collaborating in theatre design and participating in innovative publishing experiments.
