Gogi Saroj Pal


Born in 1945, Neoli, Uttar Pradesh, Gogi Saroj Pal pursued art at the Banasthali, Rajasthan and holds a diploma in painting from the College of Art, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, along with a post-graduate diploma from the College of Art, New Delhi. Some of her notable solo shows include All these flowers are for you, London Art Gallery, London (2004) and Mumbai (2005) respectively, Revisiting Amrita Shergil, Bangalore (2004), Embroidering Phulkaries & Memories, Mumbai (2002), Mother Icon. Photographs of Ma, Hidamba at Kulu Dassehra, Icons of Womanhood, London (1996). She was a fellow at the Lalit Kala Akademi (1981-82) and a junior fellow at the Department of Culture, Government of India (1986-88). For her contribution in the Indian arts, Gogi has been honoured with the Sanskriti Award (1980) and National Award by the Lalit Kala Akademi (1990). The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
