Sudhir Khastgir


Born in Chittagong, Bangladesh in 1907, Khastgir was an Indian painter of the Bengal School. He graduated from Santiniketan in 1929 and then studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. After returning from Munich, he took over as the first arts teacher at the Doon School. Sudhir Khastgir was offered to head the Lucknow College of Arts and Crafts in 1956. He was a recipient of the Padma Shri in the year 1957.
