Shibu Natesan was born in 1966 in Vakkom, Kerala. He completed his BFA in Painting from College of Fine Arts, Thi ruvananthapuram, in 1987. In 1991, he completed his MA in Printmaking from Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. He has been an artist-in-residence at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam, from 1996 to 1997.

In 2009, he had a solo exhibition titled External Affairs at Grosvenor Vadehra, London. In 2007 he exhibited Each One Tea ch One at Jack Shainman Gallery, New York. In 2005, he exhibited Vision Unlimited at Grosvenor Gallery, London. His previous solo exhibition in India was in 2005; Existence of Instinct organized by Sakshi Gallery in New Oelhi. In 1999 he was part of a group show titled Pictures of Pictures, curated by Lynda Morris at Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol, England.

His works have been displayed at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan; The World Economic Forum, Switzerland; Museum of Contemporary Art - KIASMA, Helsinki, Finland; Blackburn Museum, England etc.

The artist lives and works in London , United Kingdom, and Thiruvananthapuram and Vadodara, India.
