Rummana Hussain (b. 1958) was a conceptual, multi-media and installation based artist in India. Her category defying works incorporate performance, installation, sculpture, film and photography. Since 1992, Hussain worked towards a more feminist and conceptual vocabulary to create some of her most important works.

Rummana’s works have been on view at various exhibitions around the world including Museum Abteiburgh (Germany); Smart Museum (USA);The Rose Art Museum (USA); at Art Gallery of Western Australia (Australia); Tamayo Museum (Mexico); Museum of Contemporary Art (Monterrey); Asia Society( New York); Tate Modern (UK); Oboro (Canada); Third Asia Pacific Triennial (APT3) (Australia); Mills College Art Gallery (USA) and Victoria Gallery (UK). She was artist-in-residence at Art in General, New York, USA (1998) and Artspace Studios, Bristol, UK (1997).

She passed away in 1999 in Mumbai.
