In 1988 Basu co-founded the Indian Radical Painters’ and Sculptors’ Association in Baroda. Solo exhibitions by the artist are Landscapes towards a Supreme Fiction which was held at Thomas Erben Gallery in Chelsea, New York in 2006, and Healing Properties: VN Jyothi Basu’s Landscapes of the Self, organized by The Fine Art Resource (now Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke), at Artists’ Center, Mumbai, in 2003. Recent participations include A Piece of the Wall, Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai, 2006, The Artist Lives and Works, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, 2005, and Bombay Boys, Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2004.
