Rajendar Tiku


Rajendar Tiku was born in Wadwan, Kashmir in 1853. He graduated from the Kashmir University with a degree in science and law, while studying there he simultaneously earned a degree in sculpture from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Srinagar, graduating in 1978.

Tiku works with wood and stone, his work bears architectural elements expressing an underlying metaphor of scarred surfaces. He has already earned recognition for his work at both national and international levels. Most recently he was given the Pollack Krasner Foundation Grant, the prestigious Gottleib Foundation Grant and in 2013 he was conferred a Padmashree for his contribution in the field of sculpture.
