Jagdish Mittal


Jagdish Mittal is an artist, historian, collector and scholar, often called the grand old man of Indian art. He gained his art education from Shantiniketan where he met his wife Kamala, a fellow artist. They travelled widely collecting art and eventually settled in Hyderabad in 1951. His interest in collecting art has translated into conserving and preserving the art heritage of India. In 1976, he created the ‘Jagdish and Kamala Mittal Museum of Indian Art’ in Hyderabad.
