Austin Coates


Austin Coates (1922-1997), was a British civil servant, writer and the son of noted English composer Eric Coates. He wrote extensively on topics related to the Asia Pacific region and served in Hong Kong, Macau, India, Burma, Malayasia and Indonesia. His works include The Road (1957), City of Broken Promises (1967), Myself a Madarin (1968) and A Macau Narrative (1978).
